Moose Antlers in 100 Mile House

The whirlwind tour up to 100 Mile House is over and it’s time to pack up and header.

But, this trip reminded me of one very important date that lies near ahead: hunting season. Man oh man I can’t wait!

So, as an ode to the upcoming season, here are some moose antlers that were kicking around a few spots on my parent’s property.

And for those of you who mistook moose antlers for moose horns (which is very common), the difference is super easy to understand. Antlers, like on a moose, deer or caribou, are an extension of the animals skull, and they re-grow after falling off every year. Horns, on the other hand, are made of keratin (and other proteins) and never fall off. Voila, there you go!

@arenda

First of all, Arenda is an awesome name ;) .

Second of all, thanks for viewing the site and posting a comment! Appreciated!

Finally, I really appreciate the feedback on the photography aspect of the pictures, and you’re probably the first person on this blog to do so (at least for a very long time!). So thanks a million!

By the way folks, click on Arenda’s name and you’ll be linked up to her Flickr account. There’s some fantastic stuff to view there (especially if you’re interested in wedding stuff!).
