It probably won’t suddenly become funny if I explain it, but here goes anyway. I was playing with the expression “always a bridesmaid, never the bride”. It’s used when someone falls just short of their goal. It can be used jokingly like when I heard a guy deadpan it after coming in second in a lawnmower race. Since she’s obviously the beautiful bride in the photo, I was teasing you for being the one left holding the bouquet
