The best part about being extremely jet-lagged is being able to walk around taking pictures at bizarre hours. Aside from the odd person on a bike rolling around, total silence.
I did this a lot – even without the jet-lag – when I lived in Umeå. Alarm was set and out the door I went to just walk around and watch the sun come up. I didn’t have a camera at that time, or really care too much about photography, so these memories are only in my head.
Therese and I have been in Sweden the past week, and on night one, we stayed with two awesome friends of ours – Anna and Tomas – in the small western town of Kungsbacka. I managed to take my camera with me this time and act like a very tired, jet-lagged tourist.
Not award-winning photography, but at least this time I will remember a bit of what this town looked like at 4AM (or whatever time it was…).

This was really nice. The kind of thing that makes taking a lot of pictures well worth it.
Therese and I live in Vancouver, and her family comes from Sweden. Obviously, this makes seeing one another on a regular basis difficult, and I know how much Therese misses her family at times.
Therese’s parents were flying into Seattle to do a business trip south to San Francisco, and because Therese and I will be in Sweden fairly soon, there was no plan in place to see one another in North America.
But, Therese managed to wiggle her schedule around and we made our way to Seattle. Her parents obviously didn’t realize this, and we were waiting for them at the airport when they arrived.
This was a really nice surprise, and it felt awesome to see the three of them so happy together.

I really liked this first dance picture from Christy and Gord’s wedding at the Vancouver Club.
The angle is a bit different then the standard first dance picture, it’s a lower shutter speed to has a bit of a different texture and feel to the picture, and it’s sort of a one of a kind.
Being two photographers at weddings has its advantages.
